2. Bookings and payment
Bookings are made through the booking page of each tour and payment takes place online via our payment provider SumUp. Payment is due at the time of booking. A booking is only confirmed once the payment has succeeded. You will then receive a confirmation email with the details of your tour. Please make sure you provide a correct email address and check your confirmation email, as we cannot be held liable for bookings or confirmations sent to the wrong address.
3. Prices
Prices are shown per person in euros (EUR) on the tour page. The price at the time of booking applies. Discounts and promo codes are applied at the time of booking. The price includes the tour as described on the tour page. Unless stated on the tour page, entrance tickets, meals, drinks, gratuities, personal insurance and other personal purchases are not included.
4. Changes to these terms
These terms have a version. The current version is 1.0, in force from 21 September 2026. These terms may be updated from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking applies. Changes to these terms have no effect on bookings already made.
5. Cancelling by you
You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of the tour by contacting us at tours@stepbystep.paris. We refund the full amount to the payment method you used. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the start are not refundable. As tours are services with a fixed date, the statutory 14-day withdrawal period does not apply; instead, the cancellation conditions above apply.
6. Cancelling by us
Some tours require a minimum number of participants. If this minimum is not reached, we cancel the tour and refund the full amount.
Tours run in most weather conditions. In very heavy rain or unsafe conditions, we may reschedule or cancel the tour with a full refund. In cases of force majeure, including strikes or other events beyond our control, we may also have to cancel or reschedule a tour. If we cancel a tour for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
7. Refunds
Refunds are processed through our payment provider SumUp and, where possible, returned to the card you paid with. We never refund more than the amount you originally paid, and we do not give cash refunds unless the law requires it.
Once we confirm a cancellation or refund, we start the refund without undue delay. SumUp credits the amount back to your card. Your bank or card issuer decides when the amount appears in your account; this is usually within about 5 business days, but it can take longer (in some cases up to 30 days).
If a card refund is no longer possible, for example because the payment is too old for our payment provider, we will refund the amount by bank transfer.
Because our walking tours are services provided on a fixed date, the statutory 14-day withdrawal right does not apply (Article L221-28, 12° of the French Consumer Code). The cancellation and refund conditions in these terms apply instead.
8. On the day of the tour
Arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. Tours leave on time and we cannot wait for late arrivals. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
9. Liability
We do our best to provide a safe and enjoyable tour. Participation is at your own risk. We are not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings during the tour.
10. Complaints
Something went wrong? Please contact us in writing within 14 days of the tour at tours@stepbystep.paris and we will do our best to resolve the issue.
11. Applicable law and disputes
French law applies to these terms and conditions. In the event of a dispute, the parties will first try to reach an amicable solution before taking legal action. As a consumer, you can also submit a dispute to the tourism mediator (La Médiation Tourisme Voyage) or use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
